Beedrills

Hello and welcome from the world of the Monsters!

Orbax here.

As the summer winds down and we get ready for our heavy fall touring schedule, I thought I'd take this opportunity to start posting (semi-) regular updates here in our news section.

The purpose of this is to keep you attuned to what we're up to and what new things are on the horizon, but honestly I felt it more important to give myself some sorting of pseudo-creative writing exercise.

So, as always, I bring you entertainment veiled under the guise of not-so-secretly meeting some unfulfilled need of my own.

I know what you're all thinking and my answer is 71.

Not too shabby for a nearly 40 year old man's Pokedex. Since I started playing I've come up with some Pokemon Go related jokes that I have been using quite unsuccessfully in the live show. These jokes include gold like "I'm such a big fan of Darwin that my Pokedex is mainly 10 CP Beedrills.". If you're not already falling off your chair laughing then please, share this joke with the nearest child who has read On the Origin of Species.

At times I feel I should be casting my net wider in terms of accessible humour.

But if that were the case then you wouldn't be reading this, would you? The reason you're here is because you, like tens of other, are a fan of us! Or perhaps you're a casting agent for a Got Talent show. If you're the former then you're already used to the sisyphussian level to which we alienate with (and at times improperly reference) our comedy. If you're the latter then may I direct you to our YouTube page.

This summer was a busy but productive one for Pepper and I which has resulted in the writing of several new bits to debut this fall, as well as a few upcoming TV appearances which you will definitely be hearing about in the future. I would go into more detail but I'm aiming to update this news blog every few days with the hope of it becoming a daily exercise and I'll need things to write about.

Speaking of which...

Big congratulations go out to Sweet Pepper who, you should know, recently received yet ANOTHER Guinness World Record! As you may or may not know, there is a lot of paperwork involved in submitting a record. Often it will take us a few months to get the paperwork compiled and then often Guinness will take 6 - 8 months to adjudicate it.

And often they spell our names wrong on the certificates.

This latest record was a bit of a surprise as we received the certificate in the mail and didn't get an email about it. On July 19th 2015 at last year's Buskers on the Bay Festival in Saint John, New Brunswick Pepper destroyed the Guinness World Record for the most animal traps released on a body in one minute. His new record is 20, and we will be attempting to break it at the London Comic Con Sept 23rd as part of the Shock Stock Monster Museum!

Straight from Pepper's very own Instagram page!

So come to that. You'll get to see us AND Jake's fanny pack .

(For our UK friends and fans, the word fanny is used differently over here. Whacky, I know, however it's just as ridiculous as your misuse of the word pants.)

Well, I believe this exercise has succeeded in not only forcing me to write something hopefully somewhat humourous, but has also allowed me to procrastinate unpacking the new house.

Small victories.

In closing, I promised Pepper today that I would use this text exchange in the blog so enjoy....

Orbax: Jeremy's off to France!

Pepper: Nice!

Orbax: No, Paris!
